1965. Starting work in Customs & Excise HQ in London, Nick Storey comes across some strange people, including a bully and a very tall rude man with a violent friend. He strikes up a friendship with a colleague, who is subsequently stabbed to death in an alley near the Monument. Though the police believe it was a robbery, only his briefcase was taken. Helped by Rosemary and a purloined notebook, Nick comes across a strange brotherhood, based on ancient and arcane wisdom of Balqis, Queen of Sheba. He is also drawn into a plan to catch colleagues receiving illicit payments for the return of temporarily imported cars seized by C&E, which involves Rosemary going undercover. However, sorting these out costs another life and isn't without risk to their lives as well. "Misfits and Miscreants" is the twenty-eighth book published in a series of detective stories set mostly in HM Customs & Excise, by Richard Hernaman Allen, a former Commissioner

Ooh Aah Stantona

War doesn't start at nine in the morning and finish at five at night...As the war progressed I soon learned there was no time, dates or even an outside world, it was just an existence.'- Phil Stant's story is miles away from your usual footballer's rags-to-riches tale. He might have grown up like many sixties lads - idolising George Best and dreaming of playing at Wembley - but his life before professional football included bomb disposal, manoeuvres in the dark and seeing front-line action in the Falklands.Throughout his school days, Stant dreamed of gracing the pitch and hearing thousands of fans cheer his name. As his thoughts turned to an army career, however, he endured rigorous training...

Cyrille Regis MBE

Cyrille Regis, MBE, enjoyed a long career in football. During his playing years, he made well over 750 club and international appearances, scoring more than 200 goals, including 159 in 614 League appearances. Cyrille won the FA Cup with Coventry in 1987 and represented England five times at senior international level. In this fascinating new book, author Tony Matthews tells the story of Cyrille's long and successful career through 50 important games - although he admits that he could easily have chosen 100! This book covers Cyrille's life in full, from his early days in the Caribbean, through his school years, playing at non-League level before entering the world of professional football and gaining England recognition. It also tells how Cyrille came close to an early death in a car crash in Spain and how he went on to become a soccer coach and a players’ agent, receiving an MBE in 2008. With forewords by Cyrille’s former manager, Ron Atkinson, and professional footballers, Darren Moore and Derek Statham, as well as a host of other tributes, this is a book no football fan will want to miss.
