This volume constitutes selected papers presented at the 28th International Conference on Systems, Signals and Image Processing, IWSSIP 2021, held in Bratislava, Slovakia, in June 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held online. The presented 14 full and 5 short papers were thorougly reviewed and selected from the 76 submissions. The papers focus on various aspects of advanced signal processing in different scientific areas, including filter design, Fourier and other transforms, feature extraction, machine learning and system adaptation to user-oriented products like 5G networks, IoT, virtual teleport or tele-surgery operations.
"The book is intended to clarify the hype, which surrounds the concept of mobile multimedia through introducing the idea in a clear and understandable way, with a strong focus on mobile solutions and applications"--Provided by publisher.
The book focuses on both theory and applications in the broad areas of communication technology, computer science and information security. This two volume book contains the Proceedings of 4th International Conference on Advanced Computing, Networking and Informatics. This book brings together academic scientists, professors, research scholars and students to share and disseminate information on knowledge and scientific research works related to computing, networking, and informatics to discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. The book also promotes translation of basic research into applied investigation and convert applied investigation into practice.
The growing popularity of advanced multimedia-rich applications along with the increasing affordability of high-end smart mobile devices has led to a massive growth in mobile data traffic that puts significant pressure on the underlying network technology. However, no single network technology will be equipped to deal with this explosion of mobile data traffic. While wireless technologies had a spectacular evolution over the past years, the present trend is to adopt a global heterogeneous network of shared standards that enables the provisioning of quality of service and quality of experience to the end-user. To this end, enabling technologies like machine learning, Internet of Things and di...
Chapters in the first part of the book cover all the essential speech processing techniques for building robust, automatic speech recognition systems: the representation for speech signals and the methods for speech-features extraction, acoustic and language modeling, efficient algorithms for searching the hypothesis space, and multimodal approaches to speech recognition. The last part of the book is devoted to other speech processing applications that can use the information from automatic speech recognition for speaker identification and tracking, for prosody modeling in emotion-detection systems and in other speech processing applications that are able to operate in real-world environments, like mobile communication services and smart homes.
Humans are remarkable in processing speech, audio, image and some biomedical signals. Artificial neural networks are proved to be successful in performing several cognitive, industrial and scientific tasks. This peer reviewed book presents some recent advances and surveys on the applications of artificial neural networks in the areas of speech, audio, image and biomedical signal processing. It chapters are prepared by some reputed researchers and practitioners around the globe.
The two-volume set, LNCS 13325 and 13326, are conference proceedings that constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Distributed, Ambient and Pervasive Interactions, DAPI 2022, held as part of the 24th International Conference, HCI International 2022, which took place during June-July 2022. The conference was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 58 papers of DAPI 2022 are organized in topical sections named for each volume: Part I: User Experience and Interaction Design for Smart Ecosystems; Smart Cities, Smart Islands, and Intelligent Urban Living; Smart Artifacts in Smart Environments; and Opportunities and Challenges for the Near Future Smart Environments Part II: Smart Living in Pervasive IoT Ecosystems; Distributed, Ambient, and Pervasive Education and Learning; Distributed, Ambient, and Pervasive Well-being and Healthcare; and Smart Creativity and Art.
This book presents innovative technology-enhanced learning solutions for STEM education proposed by the EU Horizon 2020-funded NEWTON project by first highlighting the benefits and limitations of existing research work, e- learning systems and case studies that embedded technology in the teaching and learning process. NEWTON’s proposed innovative technologies and pedagogies include adaptive multimedia and multiple sensorial media, virtual reality, fabrication and virtual labs, gamification, personalisation, game-based learning and self-directed learning pedagogies. The main objectives are to encourage STEM education among younger generations and to attract students to STEM subjects, making these subjects more appealing and interesting. Real life deployment of NEWTON technologies and developed educational materials in over 20 European educational institutions at primary, secondary and tertiary levels demonstrated statistical significant increases in terms of learner satisfaction, learner motivation and knowledge acquisition.
