Disruption is the new norm and the digital transformation can spur innovation growth across many activities. Emerging technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) can help governments reduce costs while improving services. Not every emerging technology will alter the social landscape, but some truly do have the potential to disrupt the statu quo and change the way people live. This study focuses on the following key building blocks of the 4IR to examine their impact on the social services sector in Latin America and the Caribbean: Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Internet of Things and Cloud Computing, Big Data, Virtual and Augmented Reality.
This book presents an interdisciplinary exploration of digital sovereignty in China, which are addressed mainly from political, legal and historical point of views. The text leverages a large number of native Chinese experts among the authors at a time when literature on China’s involvement in internet governance is more widespread in the so-called “West”. Numerous Chinese-language documents have been analysed in the making of this title and furthermore, literature conceptualising digital sovereignty is still limited to journal articles, making this one of the earliest collective attempts at defining this concept in the form of a book. Such characteristics position this text as an innovative academic resource for students, researchers and practitioners in international relations (IR), law, history, media studies and philosophy.
Using big data, this book reveals stark racial and class inequalities in representation in local governments across the United States.
"What happens to an economy when a war occurs in a local town or village?" The original purpose of the book explored how war severed the economy from society and sought to identify potential solutions. Research for the book advanced into three rationales. The first rationale explored deterrence theory literature and intrastate conflict phenomena and literature. The second rationale contributed to the intrastate conflict scientific body of knowledge. The third rationale established a foreign policy to fill a knowledge gap in understanding. This guidebook contributes to fixing the intelligence blueprint for the 9/11 wars.

This book presents the proceedings of SoMeT_23, the 22nd International Conference on New Trends in Intelligent Software Methodology, Tools, and Techniques, held from 20–22 September 2023 in Naples, Italy. The conference brings together researchers and practitioners to share original research and practical development experience in software science and relate...
