This handbook is designed to enable radiation oncologists to treat patients appropriately and confidently by means of particle therapy. The orientation and purpose are entirely practical, in that the focus is on the physics essentials of delivery and treatment planning , illustration of the clinical target volume (CTV) and associated treatment planning for each major malignancy when using particle therapy, proton therapy in particular. Disease-specific chapters provide guidelines and concise knowledge on CTV selection and delineation and identify aspects that require the exercise of caution during treatment planning. The treatment planning techniques unique to proton therapy for each disease site are clearly described, covering beam orientation, matching/patching field techniques, robustness planning, robustness plan evaluation, etc. The published data on the use of particle therapy for a given disease site are also concisely reported. In addition to fully meeting the needs of radiation oncologists, this "know why" and “know how” guide to particle therapy will be valuable for medical physicists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists.
Hong Kong in Transition offers a perspective on the exceptional constitutional and administrative experiment that has been taking place in Hong Kong, based on a substantial period under Chinese rule. There have been both successes and failures, and a perceptible process of change which is important to document. The particular appeal of this volume lies in the fact that it combines a broad overview with detailed study of individual topics. It is multidisciplinary, and its chapters may be read as 'stand-alone' studies or taken as complementary parts of a whole snapshot of Hong Kong in this critical early period. The chapters are pitched at a level to make them accessible both to undergraduates and to the specialist. Contributors have been drawn from Hong Kong, Macau, the UK, the US, Australia and Germany, reflecting the international interest in the fate of Hong Kong.
The world's most comprehensive, well documented, and well illustrated book on this subject. With extensive subject and geographic index. 100 photographs and illustrations - mostly color. Free of charge in digital PDF format.
Directory of foreign diplomatic officers in Washington.
This review volume consists of scientific articles representing the frontier and most advanced progress in the field of semiconductor physics and lattice dynamics.
This volume presents key papers published in recent years dealing with silicon-germanium strained layers and their applications.Papers are presented in three groups, dealing with growth and mechanical properties of strained layers, electronic and optical properties, and applications, notably in novel diode and transistor designs and high performance optical detectors. The collected papers will be an ideal source for new researchers who need quick and easy access to an authoritative selection of high quality papers. An important aspect of the selection is the cross-disciplinary nature of the papers, presenting material from electronic engineers as well as from physicists and materials scientists. An extensive bibliography gives details of a further 250 papers on the subject.

Man-Machine-Environment System Engineering: Proceedings of the 21st Conference on MMESE is the academic showcase of best research papers selected from more than 500 submissions each year. From this book reader will learn the best research topics and the latest development trend in MMESE design theory and other human-centered system application.MMESE focus mainly on the relationship between Man, Machine and Environment. It studies the optimum combination of man-machine-environment systems. In the system, the Man means the working people as the subject in the workplace (e.g. operator, decision-maker); the Machine means the general name of any object controlled by the Man (including tool, Machi...
