"Brings long overdue recognition and reevaluation to Nueva Figuración. Offers a contemporary reexamination of the artworks beyond that of Argentina’s complex political history for a more global interpretation."--Carol Damian, author of Neorealism and Contemporary Colombian Painting "Chronicles an important and little-known episode in the history of Argentine art and thoughtfully locates the movement within the complex cultural and political landscape of its time."--Abigail McEwen, University of Maryland, College Park Although it is one of Latin America’s most significant postwar art movements, Nueva Figuración has long been overlooked in studies of modern art. Where Did We Go Wrong? That is the first question. In its answer, we expose one enigma and four mistakes that led to this disastrous political and economic crisis. What Do We Do Now? That is the crucial question. After we discovered that our crisis was due more to the good that we had failed to do than to the bad that we had done, we presented strategic objectives and strategies to overcome the bad and enhance the good. This book analyzes how Chinese think tanks have become essential actors in today’s Chinese foreign policy and diplomatic practices. By providing an in-depth analysis of their roles, functions and transformation in the last decade, this study explains how they differ from their Western counterparts and how they have developed during Hu Jintao’s and Xi Jinping’s mandates. Think tanks are often thought to only be able to gain access to political processes within democratic contexts. This book suggests that even in the more ambiguous Chinese political environment, think tanks remain essential actors where ideas, discourses and beliefs about foreign policy and diplomacy are generated, framed and discussed vis-à-vis China’s ascent role in international affairs and global governance.

The driving force for the design and implementation of emission control strate gies aimed at improving air quality has been the protection of th...
