Caution! Do not read while riding as bikers have been known to fall over laughing. This collection of humorous short stories is from the archives of the Busted Knuckle Chronicles, a weekly national motorcycle newspaper and Canadas on-line site containing all that bikers want to know. Layton's column appeared in the Busted Knuckle regularly over the past few years. These are stories of motorcycle adventures and misadventures as seen through the twisted mind of the author, a rider with 40+ years riding experience. Side effects may include wanting to wear leather chaps, a new love of the smell of oil, longing for the feel of wind in the face and acquiring a taste for bugs.

This Third Edition includes updated and added content tracing the life and genealogy of Gervase Macomber (c1780-1866), his 26 children and at least 120 grandchildren and hundreds of great grandchildren. In 1796, Jarvis Macomber, the son of a soldier of the American Revolution and descendant of the Mayflower, left home to seek his fortune in the fur trade among the Mohawks of the Northwest. His English name, Macomber, was instrumental in tracing a lineage within an Indian culture that otherwise did not have surnames. Jarvis Macomber left Massachusetts and lived in Canada, and there he married the daughter of a prominent Mohawk Indian. He became a Catholic and became known as Gervase (Gervais) Macomber. He was a fur trader and a merchant; he operated a trading post, ran a ferry across the St Lawrence River, he became an Agent of the Chiefs and an Interpreter for the Department of Indian Affairs; and he was a soldier in the War of 1812 against the Americans.

The Assimilation

In the early 1990s, Maurice “Mom” Boucher and his fellow Montreal Hells Angels, reputedly the most ruthless and vicious bikers in the world, subdued all comers except the tough-as-nails members of the Rock Machine. Founded by Salvatore Cazzetta, an ex-friend of Boucher, the Rock Machine had every intention of standing up against the Hells Angels. Seven years of bloody conflict, which left over 160 people dead and countless injured, was the result. Heavily outnumbered, the Rock Machine appealed to the worldwide Bandidos Motorcycle Club, who rivaled the Hells Angels in terms of membership and strength. In January 2000, the Rock Machine ceased to exist and became a probationary Bandidos cha...

Professeur Le
