Efforts and Models in Interpreting and Translation Research
This volume covers a wide range of topics in Interpreting and Translation Research. Why Translation Studies Matters
Whether Translation Studies really matters is an important and challenging question which practitioners of translation and interpreting raise repeatedly. TS scholars, many of whom are translators and interpreters themselves, are not indifferent to it either. The twenty papers of this thematic volume, contributed by authors from various parts of Europe, from Brazil and from Israel, address it in a positive spirit. Some do so through direct critical reflection and analysis, arguing in particular that the engagement of TS with society should be strengthened so that the latter could benefit more from the former. Others illustrate the relevance and contribution of TS to society and to other disciplines from various angles. Language in the Digital Era. Challenges and Perspectives
This collected volume brings together the contributions of several humanities scholars who focus on the evolution of language in the digital era. The first part of the volume explores general aspects of humanities and linguistics in the digital environment. The second part focuses on language and translation and includes topics that discuss the digital translation policy, new technologies and specialised translation, online resources for terminology management, translation of online advertising, or subtitling. Empirical Translation Studies
Copenhagen Studies in Language carries studies in both language for general purposes and language for special purposes (LSP). Its scope covers grammar, semantics, pragmatics, text linguistics, and translation, from a theoretical as well as an applied perspective. It is the editors' policy to bring out thematic volumes. The present volume on empirical translation studies is the latest in a series of volumes following this policy. While based at the Copenhagen Business School, the series is open to contributions from linguists in other institutions, in Denmark and abroad.
Theory of Mind in Translation
Taking the perspective of others is central to translation. But does translation train this uniquely human capacity? This book introduces the concept of Theory of Mind (ToM) to model one of the central features of translation, the meta-representation of others, and presents three innovative studies which investigate the question using brain scans, eye-tracking and key-logging to shed new light on the role of non-linguistic macro-competences on the translation process.
