Natural and agro-ecosystems are frequently exposed to natural or synthetic substances, which, while they have no direct nutritional value or significance in metabolism, may negatively affect plant functioning. These, xenobiotics, may originate from both natural (fires, volcano eruptions, soil or rock erosion, biodegradation) and anthropogenic (air and soil pollution, herbicides) sources. George Boone IV (1690-1753), a Quaker, emigrated from England to Abington, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, married Deborah Howell in 1713, and moved to Berks County, Pennsylvania. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, California and elsewhere.

Deductive and Object-Oriented Databases
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Deductive and Object-Oriented Databases, DOOD'97, held in Montreux, Switzerland, in December 1997. The 22 revised full papers presented in this book were selected from a total of 59 submissions.
