Ada dua jenis model dalam membangun desa yaitu pembangunan government driven development yang berfokus pada partisipasi komunitas dalam merencanakan dan mendesain inisiatif pengembangan. Model pembangunan desa baru yaitu bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan memprioritaskan masalah pembangunan desa, mendorong partisipasi aktif dan pemanfaatan sumber daya lokal.
