The early Featherstones appear to have lived in Featherstone Castle. The earliest known ancestor was Helias de Fetherstanhalwe (1185-1250) who lived in the castle. Helias was the father of Thomas de Fetherstonehalwe (1240-1310) who had at least two sons. Some of his descendants immigrated to America in the 1600s.
