The concepts of dark matter and the cosmic web are some of the most significant developments in cosmology in the past century. Today, they are integral parts of modern cosmology, which explains everything from the Big Bang to inflation to the large-scale structure of the Universe.Dark Matter and Cosmic Web Story describes the contributions that led to a paradigm shift from the Eastern point of view. It describes the problems with the classical view, the attempts to solve them, the difficulties encountered...
Marcel Grossmann Meetings are formed to further the development of General Relativity by promoting theoretical understanding in the fields of physics, mathematics, astronomy and astrophysics and to direct future technological, observational, and experimental efforts. In these meetings are discussed recent developments in classical and quantum gravity, general relativity and relativistic astrophysics, with major emphasis on mathematical foundations and physical predictions, with the main objective of gathering scientists from diverse backgrounds for deepening the understanding of spacetime structure and reviewing the status of test-experiments for Einstein's theory of gravitation. Variation is a universal phenomenon permeating language, culture, and entire worldviews. This book analyses issues related to both specific and common variations in folklore and language as signifiers of culture and worldview. The articles here are dedicated to different genres and forms, including spoken and written language, dancing and singing, and festivities, and involve different aspects of variation. Variation is conceptualised here as the main basis of folklore dynamics and a major issue of typology. A significant part of the volume is dedicated to variations of myths and motifs, creativity, intertextuality, and transmediality.

The three-volume bio-bibliographical handbook comprises the German-language literature of present-day countries of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania from the Middle Ages to the present. Literature from St. Petersburg has also been included due to the strong ties that were established between German-Balts and the capital of the Russian Empire over the course of time. The work begins with an introduction to the changeful history and its social stratifications in order to provide proper chronological classification of the biographies and texts of the authors. To this end, an overview of theater life as a cultural meeting place is also included. The handbook aims for the most extensive compilation possible of the individual works. With this handbook, the authors present the first extensive lexicon of German-language literature of the Baltic States, which will be of interest to literary specialists as well as historians.
