Helen Waddell's Writings from Japan
'The richest thing in my life has been Japan' wrote the Irish scholar Helen Waddell (1889 - 1965) when she was in her 20s. This volume attempts to reconstruct a 'book' based on Waddell's writings on Japan comprising of autobiographical short stories, a play that was performed at the Belfast Opera House in 1915, and some allusive literary essays.

This 1934 book contains two chapters on Shakespeare which had previously appeared in the Cambridge History of English Literature. The chapters were printed together in the 'Miscellany' edition in the year following the author's death with the addition of a few footnotes and an appreciation by Helen Waddell.
