Brian Gault is one of the 450 survivors of the 'miracle-drug' Thalidomide's exposure to the British market in the mid-twentieth century. To the shock of his parents, he was born with no arms. Otherwise physically and mentally fit and able, Brian has struggled throughout his life to overcome the restrictions society has tried to place on him, beginning with the cumbersome prosthetic arms of his childhood, which he had to sabotage to escape wearing them! Brian's story is lively, funny, challenging and moving and centres around his call to Christian faith. With a foreword by Joni Eareckson Tada.

A Coach Load of Chaos

William explained that the nave had round-headed arches and had been built by the Normans. "Gee! We have them in the States, you know, at Salt Lake City," Mr Murray remarked to his wife. "Honey, I think those are 'Mormons'. He said 'Normans'." William Simpson has everything he wants in life except a girlfriend. He loves his job, guiding coach tours of France, but he has never forgotten his schooldays and the bullies, prefects and teachers who made his adolescence a misery. One day his boss offers him ten complimentary places on his next tour. Rather than take his friends, William looks up his old enemies, and invites them on a free holiday none of them will ever forget. Remembering their per...

Flying with the Fifteenth Air Force

In 1944 and 1945, Tom Faulkner was a B-24 pilot flying out of San Giovanni airfield in Italy as a member of the 15th Air Force of the U.S. Army Air Forces. Only 19 years old when he completed his 28th and last mission, Tom was one of the youngest bomber pilots to serve in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Between September 1944 and the end of February 1945, he flew against targets in Hungary, Germany, Italy, Austria, and Yugoslavia. On Tom’s last mission against the marshalling yards at Augsburg, Germany, his plane was severely damaged, and he had to fly to Switzerland where he and his crew were interned. The 15th Air Force generally has been overshadowed by works on the 8th Air Force based in England. Faulkner’s memoir helps fill an important void by providing a first-hand account of a pilot and his crew during the waning months of the war, as well as a description of his experiences before his military service. David L. Snead has edited the memoir and provided annotations and corroboration for the various missions.

Nano

By Rob Smith ISBN: 978 1846930386 Published: 2007 Pages: 354 Description Nanotechnology is for mankind a long-term research project. It is certainly the science of the future but whether it will bear fruit in the next ten years or the next hundred years nobody knows. But after biotechnology it is certainly where most of the high-risk investment money is heading. The risk from a grey goo engulfing the world - as prophesied by some - while not impossible is thankfully unlikely as so many safeguards can be built in. I hope that this book will help to advance the cause of nanotechnology by showing what it can do for mankind. About the Author Rob Smith graduated in Electronics, Physics and Mathematics and then spent some years working for large electronics companies and restoring Astronomical Observatories. After his first wife suddenly died he picked up the pieces of his life and married again, this time to a lady from Russia. Having lived for some years in Spain he and his new family returned to Hampshire where he now works as a Lecturer.
