The authors present a set of methods for designing and planning the implementation of business-to-business services in international markets and explain the practical use of the methods.
Today's non-tayloristic work environments call for flexible work practices supported by dynamic IT systems. Changing and optimising business processes has become an important 'adaptation mechanism' in this context. However, process models cannot capture every conceivable real-life situation, and firms' software infrastructures often do not provide the flexibility required for supporting 'design-in-use' through effective tailoring processes. The involvement of business users in the continuous redesign of business processes is a beneficial solution for these problems, as it enhances decision processes by making specific information available more quickly. However, involving business users in t...

This book documents the scientific results of the projects related to the Trusted Cloud Program, covering fundamental aspects of trust, security, and quality of service for cloud-based services and applications. These results aim to allow trustworthy IT applications in the cloud by providing a reliable and secure technical and legal framework. In this domain, business models, legislative circumstances, technical possibilities, and realizable security are closely interwoven and thus are addressed jointly. The book is organized in four parts on “Security and Privacy”, “Software Engineering and Software Quality”, “Platforms, Middleware and Integration”, and “Social Aspects, Busine...
This book contains the refereed proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Business Information Systems, BIS 2013, held in Poznań, Poland, in June 2013. The theme of this year's conference was "Business Applications on the Move," reflecting the growing usage of mobile devices in business applications and its repercussions on business processes and information management. The 18 revised full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 52 submissions. They are grouped into six sections on modern enterprises and mobile ERP, business models and BPM, linked data and ontologies, recommendations and content analysis, knowledge discovery, and IT frameworks and systems architecture.
This book examines reference modeling from different perspectives. It discusses reference modeling languages that provide special modeling language concepts for the development and application of reference models. The book also covers reference modeling methodologies, which additionally provide procedure models for the construction and application of reference models, as well as particular reference models.
This book includes 23 papers dealing with the impact of modern information and communication technologies that support a wide variety of communities: local communities, virtual communities, and communities of practice, such as knowledge communities and scientific communities. The volume is the result of the second multidisciplinary "Communities and Technologies Conference", a major event in this emerging research field. The various chapters discuss how communities are affected by technologies, and how understanding of the way that communities function can be used in improving information systems design. This state of the art overview will be of interest to computer and information scientists, social scientists and practitioners alike.
The traditional project coaching takes place mostly in a number of face-to-face coaching sessions. However, under conditions of time pressure in IT projects, a physical presence of coaches could form a bottleneck. These facts led to the idea of using Internet technologies to support the project coaching. The benefits of the web based project coaching reside in the ubiquitous availability of coaches. To enable the web coaching, a flexible support platform is required. The elaboration of requirements, design, implementation and evaluation of such a platform is the goal of this dissertation. The elaborated concept was applied and evaluated in real IT projects. The numerous findings and implications could be gained on the empirical basis.
