When Catherine returns home on the eve of ceremonies honouring her physician father, she unleashes a kaleidoscope of memories as father and daughter attempt to lay old ghosts to rest. While public service has been the keynote of Doc’s life it has covered the private anguish of a family in crisis. Interacting with figures from the past (including wife and mother Bob, best friend Oscar, and Catherine herself as the young child Katie), the characters retrace and relive past triumphs and tragedies, culminating in Bob’s death. Humour leavens this drama of a father and daughter’s struggle to love, to forgive, and to understand in order to go on. Doc was first produced in 1984 at Theatre Calgary and has since been produced widely elsewhere. The play received the Governor General’s Award for Drama in 1986.

The Star Trek Enterprise Model NCC 1701 began its journey in 1964 in my father's model shop, most of us had our first sighting of it in 1966 when it flew across out TV screen. No other cinematic vessel is nearly as famous and is still the most recognized and successful "starship" in history. It was donated by Paramount Studios to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC, where it will once again be on display for all its fans to view, in the summer of 2016. From Gene Roddenberry's imagination to Matt Jefferies ability to draw what was in Gene's head, to the Howard Anderson Co. for special effects, to my father's ability to read, decipher and construct from those blueline plans to what we see today, my father had a wonderfully specialized talent and this is his story to tell.

Who was Who on TV
The information herein was accumulated of fifty some odd years. The collection process started when TV first came out and continued until today. The books are in alphabetical order and cover shows from the 1940s to 2010. The author has added a brief explanation of each show and then listed all the characters, who played the roles and for the most part, the year or years the actor or actress played that role. Also included are most of the people who created the shows, the producers, directors, and the writers of the shows. These books are a great source of trivia information and for most of the older folk will bring back some very fond memories. I know a lot of times we think back and say, "Who was the guy that played such and such a role?" Enjoy!

Las pastillas han formado parte de mi vida desde que a los catorce años me diagnosticaron enfermedad renal crónica. Con más de cuarenta, y tras dos trasplantes de riñón, tomaba inmunosupresores para no rechazar el último riñón que me había donado mi marido Kevin, ansiolíticos para calmar la ansiedad y opiáceos para aliviar los dolores de cabeza. Para todo mal hay una pastilla y para cada pastilla hay un médico dispuesto a recetarla. Vivía y respiraba dentro de un frasco de pastillas. También estaba casada con las pastillas. Mi marido cumplía una función distinta: era padre, protector y carcelero. Con Kevin a mi lado, la sobriedad parecía factible. No me daba cuenta de que para poder encontrar mi camino a casa, tenía que soltar su mano. No para ir sola, sino para ir sin él.
