People's experience in their everyday lives has attracted much research interest in the past two decades. This book focuses on the interplay of temperament and other personality traits with characteristics of situations and events in hourly and dailey mood fluctuations. All contributors used the Time Sampling Diary (TSD) in collecting data from a variety of populations over several weeks, at least four times a day at randomly selected points of time. Economic behavior is explored from a psychological perspective by both, prominent economic psychologists with a long tradition in studying economic problems as well as economists who are open and interested in the psychological aspects of economic behavior. The contributions discuss the prospects and difficulties of this dialogue between psychology and economics and survey some important areas of research where such an interdisciplinary approach has proved to be successful. The text can also be used to introduce psychology to economists in order to give them an idea how to analyze economic problems from a psychological perspective. It also indicates many urgent and exciting research topics awaiting eager scholars to carry on the dialogue.
Dynamics of Group Decisions
Abstract: A survey of contemporary research on small group interpersonal relations and performance is presented. Topics are addressed from both empirical and theoretical perspectives; 3 research areas are covered: cognitive aspects of cooperative interaction; social-emotional aspects of cooperative interaction; and mixed-motive interaction. Specific research reviewed deals with group decisions, problem solving, bias, social processes, majority influence, nonverbal behavior, reinforcement, and consensus. The character and dynamics of interpersonal exchanges and social decision situations are examined in studies of bargaining, negotiation, intermember relations, and behavior orientation. (nm).
