Born in Sydney in 1986, Ryaed Owens grew up on the Sunshine Coast, developing a love for reading and writing at an early age. He is a writer mainly of historical fiction, combining his keen interest in medieval and ancient history with his love of fantasy literature. He currently resides in Mackay, Queensland, where he teaches English and Music. "Heretics" is Ryaed's first historical fiction with the coming soon "Traitors" is his second.
The Turpentine Dilemma
Choices: what is the price of love; what is the worth of independence? How does a young woman fulfil her destiny as a woman and an artist? How does a young man overcome traumatic childhood experiences to thrive as an adult, to become self-confident, independent and successful? These are the questions Irina and David face, independently and together, as we follow their journey from a too-hasty marriage to the story's ultimate conclusion. The setting, in the early 1960s, and location - much of the action takes place in far north Queensland - lend their own vibrant character to the drama.
