Poetry Now published 'Fit For Human Consumption' in 1991. 20 years later Ian Walton's poetry is still as fresh and alive as ever.
A major contribution to criminology in which Taylor, Walton and Young provide a framework for a fully social theory of crime.
First published in 1975, this collection of essays expands upon the themes and ideas developed in the editors’ previous work, the visionary and groundbreaking text: The New Criminology. Directed at orthodox criminology, this is a partisan work written by a group of criminologists committed to a social transformation: a transformation to a society that does not criminalize deviance. Included are American contributions, particularly from the School of Criminology at Berkeley, represented by Hermann and Julia Schwendinger and Tony Platt, together with essays by Richard Quinney and William Chambliss. From Britain, Geoff Pearson considers deviancy theory as ‘misfit sociology’ and Paul Hirst attacks deviancy theory from an Althusserian Marxist position. The editors contribute a detailed introductory essay extending the position developed in The New Criminology, and two other pieces which attempt to continue the task of translating criminology from its traditional correctionalist stance to a commitment to socialist diversity and a crime-free set of social arrangements.
First Published in 1980. Routledge is an imprint of Taylor & Francis, an informa company.
“A spell-binding tale of intrigue and empathy.” —SF Site “A powerful and effective story.” —Jo Walton They’re ancient, power, enigmatic, and here. Eight million alien Shian have come to Earth. Not as conquerors, or invaders, but as settlers. In exchange for their technology, they’re given places to live. One of those places in Northern Ireland, where eighty thousand Shian settlers disrupt the old, poisonous duality of Northern Irish life. The Shian remain aloof from the legacy of violence—until a Shian family is murdered down to the last child. Humans and aliens seem on a collision course, unless Andy Gillespie, ex-con, now Shian translator, can hunt down the killer before they strike again. But that’s not so easy in Northern Ireland...

At the 2012 Olympics Chad le Clos, a twenty-year-old from Durban, astounded the world by achieving the 'unbelievable': he beat Michael Phelps, his childhood hero and the world's number one swimmer, in the 200 metres butterfly final. This book tells all about the making of a swimming sensation - in the words of the golden boy himself, his family and those who have stood by him from the start. It is an encouraging account of realising the ultimate goal, not through chance, but with the resolute support of family and friends and Chad's own relentless dedication to his sport. Taking its title from his dad, Bert le Clos', famous exclamation on BBC TV when his son defeated Phelps, this book follows Chad's rise to Olympic stardom. An inspirational story for all wishing to achieve beyond what may seem possible.
