The purpose of this book is to examine the theoretical proposition from Bandura's (1986) Theory of Learning that environment and ethnicity and gender make a difference to the measures of locus of control, self efficacy, and self esteem. No prior studies have examined these relationships specific to the African-American male adult population in a highly structured environment. This study examines the veracity of a foundational principle of Bandura's Theory of Learning as applied to African-American males. This study will include multidisciplinary approaches seeking a way to educate our African American boys. The population will look at public schools, charter schools, military students along with the Afrocentric vs. non Afrocentric approach to education and its effects on this population.
The Crisis, founded by W.E.B. Du Bois as the official publication of the NAACP, is a journal of civil rights, history, politics, and culture and seeks to educate and challenge its readers about issues that continue to plague African Americans and other communities of color. For nearly 100 years, The Crisis has been the magazine of opinion and thought leaders, decision makers, peacemakers and justice seekers. It has chronicled, informed, educated, entertained and, in many instances, set the economic, political and social agenda for our nation and its multi-ethnic citizens.
Pandemic 2020 By: Cheryl Powell It is hard to believe that the most powerful country in the world could be brought to its knees by something so small and fragile it cannot be seen without the aid of a microscope… But it did happen. Indeed, the outbreak of COVID-19 seems to have brought the entire world to the point of collapse… serving as a bitter warning to future generations to be prepared. In Pandemic 2020, Cheryl Powell LMHC combines research and statistics with personal knowledge and expertise as she documents one woman’s experience navigating the “new normal.” Written from the viewpoint of both observer and healthcare professional, Powell writes to ensure there is a record of our current experience for future generations, and to remind us all that we, as a species, can emerge from this crisis stronger than before.
