Building Bridges: HCI, Visualization, and Non-formal Modeling
This volume constitutes the refereed post-workshop proceedings of two IFIP WG 13.7 workshops on Human-Computer Interaction and Visualization: the 7th HCIV Workshop on Non-formal Modelling for Interaction Design, held at the 29th European Conference on Cognitive Ergonomics, ECCE 2011, in Rostock, Germany, in August 2011 and the 8th HCIV Workshop on HCI and Visualization, held at the 13th IFIP TC 13 Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, INTERACT 2011, in Lisbon, Portugal, in September 2011. The 15 revised papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in this volume. They cover a wide range of topics in the fields of non-formal modeling, visualization and HCI and provide visions from researchers working at or across the borders between these domains that may help develop a holistic cross-discipline.
Virtual and Augmented Architecture (VAA’01)
This book focuseson the use of computer visionand graphics in architecture. It arose from a convergenceof several hot topics: 1. visualization of built environments for engineering, historical and other purposes, 2. virtual reconstruction of architecture from visual data of existing struc tures, whether via photogrammetric or range sensing techniques, and 3. augmentation of video data of architecture with useful information. The focus here is on architecture and howto present it, enhance it's abilities, make it easier to understand and make it accessibleto a larger public. Collective interest in this topic led to the International Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Architecture, whose papers are contained in this book. As editors, we were very pleased about how well the different papers chosen gavea nice focus to the topic and conference.It is clear that there are many different research approaches still active in this area - this makes it an exciting time. Wehope that this book captures that excitement and succeeds in bringing it to you.
Visualization and Mathematics III
A collection of state-of-the-art presentations on visualization problems in mathematics, fundamental mathematical research in computer graphics, and software frameworks for the application of visualization to real-world problems. Investigating Subjectivity
The notion of subjectivity is one of the most fundamental notions for modern philosophy that only gains in importance in present-day discussions. This volume gathers essays from both young and senior researchers that examine which role subjectivity plays in both classical and contemporary phenomenology. The essays discuss the importance of a phenomenological account of subjectivity for the nature and the status of phenomenology but they also discuss how the phenomenological account of the subject offers new perspectives on themes from practical philosophy and from the philosophy of mind. Thus, this volume does not only show how multifaceted the question of subjectivity is but also how important this theme continues to be for present-day philosophy.
Therapie unter Zwang - ein Widerspruch?
Sind Verhaltenstherapie und Zwang - wie immer wieder behauptet - unvereinbar? Schliessen sich Freiheitsentzug und Beziehungsarbeit gegenseitig aus? Endet die Unterbringung von Kindern und Jugendlichen in geschlossenen Heimen sogar in der Deformation ihrer Personlichkeit? In der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe werden diese Fragen seit Jahrzehnten mit immer wieder wechselnden Vorzeichen heftig diskutiert. Nur auf wissenschaftlich belastbare Daten kann sich eigentlich niemand berufen. Bernhard Stadlers empirisch fundierte Studie zu dieser Thematik schliesst damit eine Forschungslucke und widerlegt so manches Vorurteil. Am Beispiel des Madchenheims Gauting und seiner Arbeit mit dissozialen Madchen zeigt er, in welchen Fallen freiheitsentziehende Massnahmen in der Jugendhilfe helfen konnen und wo nicht. Er bezieht dazu subjektive Einschatzungen der Jugendlichen und ihrer Betreuer ebenso ein wie Testergebnisse, Interviews und die Diagnosen eines externen Instituts.
Phänomenologische Forschungen 2023-1
Die von Thiemo Breyer, Michela Summa und Inga Römer herausgegebenen »Phänomenologischen Forschungen« sind ein international offenes Forum für die Publikation aller im weitesten Sinne phänomenologisch orientierten Arbeiten. Aufgenommen werden Beiträge in deutscher, englischer und französischer Sprache, die Begutachtung erfolgt nach dem Verfahren des Peer-Review.
