Ethics and World Problems
In this collection of papers on Ethics, Ioanna Kucuradi clarifies concepts related to Ethics as a philosophical discipline, starting with the term 'ethics' itself. She details an approach to Ethics as knowledge, not as a systems of norms, in light of which she discusses theoretical problems related to the evaluation and value problem we come across in everyday public life and politics. As a result of this discussion, which makes obsolete the relativism-absolutism debate, she suggests ways which, if followed, promise to make it possible to overcome some of these problems. The Concept of Knowledge
In relation to the problems faced today, in contemplation and in practical affairs, philosophers must confront the question 'What is knowledge?', and consider whether knowledge has lost its object. Such was the problem placed before the seminar convened by the Philosophical Society of Turkey at Ankara in 1989. The 17 papers derived from the lectures and discussions deal with problems of knowing and believing, of the kinds and criteria of knowledge, of truth and fallibility, and of the cultural as well as individual factors in cognition. The Idea of Development Between its Past and its Future
Ideas play a more crucial role in history than they appear to do at first sight. If not sufficiently scrutinized, they sometimes lead to results far divergent from the initial intentions of those who put them forth as lines of orientation for practice. This seems to be also the case with the idea of "development", which has marked social and political practice in the second half of the 20 th Century. In this volume philosophers from different parts of the world discuss, and attempt to evaluate, from epistemological and ethical points of view, the idea of "development", as the principal objective of national and international policies during the past few decades.

Philosophy in International Context Philosophie im internationalen Kontext, In this collection of papers on human rights, loanna Kuçuradi conceptualizes human rights as ethical principles, as well as premises for legislation and for legal reasoning. She attempts, by doing so, to show the significance of clear concepts for the protection of human rights in practice. Taking this conception of human rights as her point of departure, she also discusses the specificities of law, of the state and of politics that hold the most promise, under present-day conditions, for the protection of human rights and the prevention of their violation.

Is it not the so-called “herd immunity”, as a way to fight against a pandemic, a violation of the right to life? What are our shortcomings? The present volume is an attempt to bring into focus one of these shortcomings: the lack of clear knowledge of what human rights are.
