Viscoelasticity and Collective Cell Migration: An Interdisciplinary Perspective Across Levels of Organization focuses on the main viscoelastic parameters formulated based on multiscale constitutive modeling and how to measure these rheological parameters based on existent micro-devices such as micro-rheology and micro-elastography. The book sheds light on inter-relationships across viscoelasticity scales, an essential step for understanding various biomedical processes such as morphogenesis, wound healing and cancers invasion. Cumulative effects of structural changes at subcellular and cellular levels influence viscoelasticity at a supracellular level are also covered, providing valuable ins...
Cancer development and progression is the result of biological phenomena that occur across multiple temporal and spatial scales. Recent years have seen a flurry of multi-scale mathematical models developed to generate and test new biological hypotheses related to cancer development, progression, and various treatment approaches. This has led to the development of new computational and analytical approaches aimed at investigating these multi-scale models. This review volume summarises the state of the art related to the modelling, experimental investigation, and data assimilation of multi-scale phenomena during cancer development, evolution, and treatment, as well as the computational and analytical investigation of the multi-scale models developed to reproduce the biological phenomena. The book also identifies the experimental and theoretical open problems that will have to be addressed in the near future in order to advance this field. Modelling and Computational Approaches for Multi-Scale Phenomena in Cancer Research is an excellent resource for both early career and advanced researchers.
The cytoskeleton is a highly dynamic intracellular platform constituted by a three-dimensional network of proteins responsible for key cellular roles as structure and shape, cell growth and development, and offering to the cell with "motility" that being the ability of the entire cell to move and for material to be moved within the cell in a regulated fashion (vesicle trafficking). The present edition of Cytoskeleton provides new insights into the structure-functional features, dynamics, and cytoskeleton's relationship to diseases. The authors' contribution in this book will be of substantial importance to a wide audience such as clinicians, researches, educators, and students interested in getting updated knowledge about molecular basis of cytoskeleton, such as regulation of cell vital processes by actin-binding proteins as cell morphogenesis, motility, their implications in cell signaling, as well as strategies for clinical trial and alternative therapies based in multitargeting molecules to tackle diseases, that is, cancer.

The book consists of contributions from friends and associates of Professor Frank E. Karasz at a Symposium held in honor of his 70th birthday. The general theme is "New Polymeric Materials" and the book is organized into several sub-topics including, New Opto-electronic Polymers, New Bio Medical Polymers, New Polymers in Nano-technology, and New Instrumental Technologies for Polymer Characterization. The book is unique in bringing together leaders in the field active in the latest developments of new polymers for advanced technological applications. In addition Professor Karasz is one of the true giants in the field of opto-electronic polymers used as Light Emitting Diodes (LED's) and is one of the principal architects in providing the current understanding of the thermodynamic principles of polymer blending. A volume celebrating Professor Karasz's achievements would have wide appeal to the international community.
