Most of the articles in this book deal with static or point-to-pointInterconnection Networks. In particular, new constructions are proposed basedon different tools from discrete mathematics. Many new records have beenestablished in the table of the maximum number of vertices of graphs withmaximum degree &Dgr; and diameter D. Properties of thesenetworks (and of more classical ones) are analyzed in many of the otherpapers. About 40% of the articles deal with fault tolerance orvulnerability properties using either combinatorial tools or probabilisticones.
This Festschrift volume, published in honor of Jean-Jaques Quisquater on the occasion of his 65th Birthday, contains 33 papers from colleagues all over the world and deals with all the fields to which Jean-Jacques dedicated his work during his academic career. Focusing on personal tributes and re-visits of Jean-Jacques Quisquater's legacy, the volume addresses the following central topics: symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, side-channels attacks, hardware and implementations, smart cards, and information security. In addition there are four more contributions just "as diverse as Jean-Jacques' scientific interests".
Optical media are now widely used in the telecommunication networks, and the evolution of optical and optoelectronic technologies tends to show that their wide range of techniques could be successfully introduced in shorter-distance interconnection systems. This book bridges the existing gap between research in optical interconnects and research in high-performance computing and communication systems, of which parallel processing is just an example. It also provides a more comprehensive understanding of the advantages and limitations of optics as applied to high-speed communications. Audience: The book will be a vital resource for researchers and graduate students of optical interconnects, computer architectures and high-performance computing and communication systems who wish to understand the trends in the newest technologies, models and communication issues in the field.
This book contains the refereed proceedings of a DIMACS Workshop on Massively Parallel Computation.
This book offers a broad overview of techniques used in the design of Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) networks for efficient dissemination of information in computer networks. It starts with an overview of the hardware components then provides a thorough review of WDM. Each topic is covered rigorously with emphasis on detailed explanations of the approaches used. Numerous exercises are included.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Ad-Hoc, Mobile, and Wireless Networks, ADHOC-NOW 2008, held in Sophia-Antipolis, France, September 2008. The 40 revised full papers and the 15 poster presentations were carefully reviewed and selected from 110 submissions. The papers deal with advances in Ad-Hoc networks, i.e. wireless, self-organizing systems formed by co-operating nodes within communication range of each other that form temporary networks. Their topology is dynamic, decentralized, ever changing and the nodes may move around arbitrarily.
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-workshop proceedings of the 24th International Workshop on Graph-Theoretic Concepts in Computer Science, WG'98, held in Smolenice Castle, Slovak Republic, in June 1998. The 30 revised full papers presented were carefully selected from a total of 61 submissions. The papers provide a wealth of new results for various classes of graphs, graph computations, graph algorithms and graph-theoretic applications in computer science.
A basic problem for the interconnection of communications media is to design interconnection networks for specific needs. For example, to minimize delay and to maximize reliability, networks are required that have minimum diameter and maximum connectivity under certain conditions. The book provides a recent solution to this problem. The subject of all five chapters is the interconnection problem. The first two chapters deal with Cayley digraphs which are candidates for networks of maximum connectivity with given degree and number of nodes. Chapter 3 addresses Bruijn digraphs, Kautz digraphs, and their generalizations, which are candidates for networks of minimum diameter and maximum connectivity with given degree and number of nodes. Chapter 4 studies double loop networks, and Chapter 5 considers broadcasting and the Gossiping problem. All the chapters emphasize the combinatorial aspects of network theory. Audience: A vital reference for graduate students and researchers in applied mathematics and theoretical computer science.
Continuing in the bestselling, informative tradition of the first edition, the Handbook of Combinatorial Designs, Second Edition remains the only resource to contain all of the most important results and tables in the field of combinatorial design. This handbook covers the constructions, properties, and applications of designs as well as existence
