Textbook of Epilepsy Surgery covers all of the latest advances in the surgical management of epilepsy. The book provides a thorough understanding of epileptogenic mechanisms in etiologically different types of epilepsy and explains neuronavigation systems. It discusses new neuroimaging techniques, new surgical strategies, and more aggressive surgic
This conference is the first in a series of conferences dedicated to Fracture Mechanics of Concrete Structures. Due to the recent explosion of interest in research on fracture in concrete, the conference has brought together the world's leading researchers in fracture of concrete and this book contains the proceedings.
Proceedings of the France-US Workshop on Strain Localization and Size Effect due to Cracking and Damage, Laboratorie de Mecanique et Technologie, Cachan, France, 6-9 September 1988.
1771 entries to worldwide literature (mostly journal articles). Intended as source of current published works on epilepsy; also serves as cumulative index to Epilepsy abstracts, v. 1-9, 1967-1976. Classified arrangement under 9 broad headings, e.g., Seizures, Etiology, and Treatment. Entries include bibliographical information, with foreign-language titles also in English, and Epilepsy abstracts citations. Keyword, subject indexes.
Understanding of failure of quasibrittle materials is of paramount importance in many engineering fields. This subject has become a broad and important field of considerable mathematical complexity, with many competing models and unsolved problems. Attention in this volume focuses on concrete, rock, masonry, toughened ceramics, ice and other quasibrittle materials characterized by the development of large zones of cracking or other microstructural damage, and its localization into major fractures.
This title provides a comprehensive overview of all aspects of the mechanical behavior of concrete, including such features as its elastoplasticity, its compressive and tensile strength, its behavior over time (including creep and shrinkage, cracking and fatigue) as well as modeling techniques and its response to various stimuli. As such, it will be required reading for anyone wishing to increase their knowledge in this area.
The EURO-C conference series (Split 1984, Zell am See 1990, Innsbruck 1994, Badgastein 1998, St Johann im Pongau 2003, Mayrhofen 2006, Schladming 2010, St Anton am Alberg 2014) brings together researchers and practising engineers concerned with theoretical, algorithmic and validation aspects associated with computational simulations of concrete and
In mechanical engineering and structural analysis there is a significant gap between the material models currently used by engineers for industry applications and those already available in research laboratories. This is especially apparent with the huge progress of computational possibilities and the corresponding dissemination of numerical tools in engineering practice, which essentially deliver linear solutions. Future improvements of design and life assessment methods necessarily involve non-linear solutions for inelastic responses, in plasticity or viscoplasticity, as well as damage and fracture analyses. The dissemination of knowledge can be improved by software developments, data base completion and generalization, but also by information and training. With such a perspective Non-Linear Mechanics of Materials proposes a knowledge actualization, in order to better understand and use recent material constitutive and damage modeling methods in the context of structural analysis or multiscale material microstructure computations.
