Classical and New Inequalities in Analysis

This volume presents a comprehensive compendium of classical and new inequalities as well as some recent extensions to well-known ones. Variations of inequalities ascribed to Abel, Jensen, Cauchy, Chebyshev, Hölder, Minkowski, Stefferson, Gram, Fejér, Jackson, Hardy, Littlewood, Po'lya, Schwarz, Hadamard and a host of others can be found in this volume. The more than 1200 cited references include many from the last ten years which appear in a book for the first time. The 30 chapters are all devoted to inequalities associated with a given classical inequality, or give methods for the derivation of new inequalities. Anyone interested in equalities, from student to professional, will find their favorite inequality and much more.

Working computationally in applied mathematics is the very essence of dealing with real-world problems in science and engineering. Approximation theory-on the borderline between pure and applied mathematics- has always supplied some of the most innovative ideas, computational methods, and original approaches to many types of problems. Pt. I (pp. 9-233) is a response to Milan Bulajić's "'Jasenovacki mit' Franje Tudmana" (1994). Pt. II (pp. 237-478) is a reply to Bulajić's response to part I. Contests the widely accepted estimate of the number of victims at Jasenovac - ca. 600-700,000. Affirms that Jasenovac was a labor camp, and that the bulk of its victims were Serbian Chetnik prisoners and postwar Croatian prisoners held by Tito. Asserts that the main sites of the perpetration of the genocide of Yugoslavia's Jews were Sajmište (near Belgrade) and other Serbian camps. States that Bulajić wrote his book in order to slander the Croats and brand them as a genocidal nation, while it is the Serbs themselves who were always antisemitic and genocidal.

Functional Equations, Inequalities and Applications

Functional Equations, Inequalities and Applications provides an extensive study of several important equations and inequalities, useful in a number of problems in mathematical analysis. Subjects dealt with include the generalized Cauchy functional equation, the Ulam stability theory in the geometry of partial differential equations, stability of a quadratic functional equation in Banach modules, functional equations and mean value theorems, isometric mappings, functional inequalities of iterative type, related to a Cauchy functional equation, the median principle for inequalities and applications, Hadamard and Dragomir-Agarwal inequalities, the Euler formulae and convex functions and approximate algebra homomorphisms. Also included are applications to some problems of pure and applied mathematics. This book will be of particular interest to mathematicians and graduate students whose work involves functional equations, inequalities and applications.

New Perspectives on the Theory of Inequalities for Integral and Sum

This book provides new contributions to the theory of inequalities for integral and sum, and includes four chapters. In the first chapter, linear inequalities via interpolation polynomials and green functions are discussed. New results related to Popoviciu type linear inequalities via extension of the Montgomery identity, the Taylor formula, Abel-Gontscharoff's interpolation polynomials, Hermite interpolation polynomials and the Fink identity with Green’s functions, are presented. The second chapter is dedicated to Ostrowski’s inequality and results with applications to numerical integration and probability theory. The third chapter deals with results involving functions with nondecreasi...

Inequalities continue to play an essential role in mathematics. The subject is per haps the last field that is comprehended and used by mathematicians working in all the areas of the discipline of mathematics. Since the seminal work Inequalities (1934) of Hardy, Littlewood and P6lya mathematicians have laboured to extend and sharpen the earlier classical inequalities. New inequalities are discovered ev ery year, some for their intrinsic interest whilst others flow from results obtained in various branches of mathematics. So extensive are these developments that a new mathematical periodical devoted exclusively to inequalities will soon appear; this is the Journal of Inequalities and Applicat...
