Se é verdade que a tradição é a memória dos povos, seu zelo é o desejo por continuidade. Assim, esta obra revive tradições e modelos de atuação, quando revisita as páginas da história que surge aqui não como uma tautologia inútil, mas como aspiração ao conhecimento, como zelo pelo humaniorum, corroborando verdades atuais. Nada mais lógico e desejável que se traga ao público a salvaguarda e o diálogo entre antropologia, sociologia e cultura pelo viés da imagem inserida em nossa atualidade. Assim, os trabalhos aqui reunidos demonstram ser representativos não só de uma série de questões que dão abertura a diversas reflexões, nas quais se encaixam o sentido da imagem, como também de sua relação com a objetividade de nossos dias. Longe de pensar que a atualidade seja uma noção simples, ela é condicionada a um regime de certa forma causal; e, por ser igualmente temporal, ela revigora e atualiza possibilidades. Por isso o contraponto entre atualidade e tradição tem em comum um só desejo: a continuidade de tudo que é.
DIÁLOGOS INTERDISCIPLINARES: NOVOS OLHARES NAS CIÊNCIAS HUMANAS
Aquilo que se espera da interdisciplinaridade não é uma mera integração de conhecimentos e, consequentemente, de disciplinas; mas que, por seu meio, o indivíduo possa desenvolver novos processos de pensar, de administrar e de encontrar novas soluções para os inúmeros desafios que a sociedade da Era da Informação impõem a cada um de nós. Assim, dada a sua complexidade, as palavras de Morin ecoam de uma forma surpreendente: “é preciso aceitar a aventura do pensamento complexo, pois o pensamento complexo nos dá instrumentos para ligar os conhecimentos.” Portanto, ligar conhecimentos e pensar complexo exige, de cada um de nós, mais do que mera vontade de “estar interdisciplinar”, mas de “ser interdisciplinar”; porém, para que isso ocorra, mais que boa vontade, é necessário ousadia para sempre querer mais e sempre ir além.
NOVAS QUESTÕES SOBRE A IMAGEM: DE OBJETO DE PESQUISA A PESQUISA DO OBJETO
Estamos inseridos em uma realidade imagética que se acredita sem precedentes e cujo princípio motor teve grande participação da fotografia. No entanto, este momento de iconofilia não foi único na história da humanidade, basta se verificar, por exemplo, o papel desempenhado pela imagem num período tão rico em contrastes como o Seiscentismo e confrontá-lo com nossa contemporaneidade. Assim, este livro oferece aos pesquisadores, cujo escopo é a imagem, alguns resultados dos trabalhos do Grupo de Pesquisa CONDESIM-FOTÓS DGP/CAPES. Este tem como objetivo principal tecer reflexões teóricas e práticas em torno da construção, desconstrução e refração imagética na arte – pictórica, escultórica e literária –, em especial do período que abrange o medievo e os séculos XVI, XVII e XVIII, a fim de se compreender como se processa sua recepção, hodiernamente, diante da perda de parte seu referencial.

Quando hoje nos vemos cercados por uma infinidade de imagens, não nos damos conta de seu poder sobre nós; pelo contrário, acreditamos ser seus senhores e que impomos nossa vontade e nossos desejos sobre elas. Claro está que, ao pensarmos assim, agimos de modo infantil, pois não se pode negar o óbvio: somos tão vulneráveis a elas como eram os povos ditos primitivos, antes mesmo do apogeu das grandes civilizações. Talvez haja sim uma grande diferença entre nós e nossos predecessores e essa não é apenas a propagação sem limites das imagens como se verifica hoje – em meio a um sem número de mídias que temos à disposição –, mas o fato de sempre lutarmos contra elas, não admitindo nossa sujeição e, pior, não acreditando nela. Ao agirmos assim, esquecemo-nos de sua capacidade particular de mediação, a qual controla a percepção que temos do mundo; levando-nos, por exemplo, a enxergar, ou não, este ou aquele objeto; ou a enxergá-lo como querem seus propagadores.
