The book comprises three separate stories, but they all share a common and debilitating theme: Revenge. The stories tellingly make the point that when the need for revenge transgresses into an obsession, it acquires an all-consuming sweetness. Shocking as this theme might be, the author probes it with profundity and, not infrequently, with scintillating humour.
