Environment Concerns in Rights-of-Way Management 8th International Symposium
The management of rights-of-way by electric and telephone utilities, highway departments, gas pipeline companies, and railroads around the world is guided and constrained by policies and regulations to protect the environment. Companies that manage rights-of-way are required to comply with these regulations, and are seeking the most cost-effective management practices that, at the same time, demonstrate stewardship of the environment. The Sixth International Symposium on Environmental Concerns in Rights-of-Way Management
The Symposium addressed environmental issues in rights-of-way planning and management, and provided a forum for information exchange among various agencies, industries, environmental consultants, and academic organizations. The goal of the Symposium, and the purpose of these 65 peer-reviewed papers presented in this Elsevier Science Book, was to provide a research update and achieve a better understanding of current environmental issues involved in rights-of-way management.

Nitrogen, the Confer-N-s
The First International Nitrogen Conference provided an opportunity for researchers and decision-makers to exchange information on environmental pollution by nitrogen compounds on three scales: global, continental/regional and local. The main topics were air, ground water and surface water pollution; emission sources, atmospheric chemistry, deposition processes and effects; disturbance of nitrogen cycles, critical loads and levels; assessments, policy development and evaluation; target groups and abatement techniques; and new approaches leading to an integrated abatement strategy.The peer-reviewed papers from the Conference presented in this volume will provide readers with a comprehensive review of the transport, deposition and impact on ecosystems of nitrogen.
