Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog was het opsporen en arresteren van ondergedoken joden in Nederland voor een belangrijk deel het werk van de Nederlandse politie. Veel rechercheurs deden dit werk met grote overtuiging en volledige inzet, zo blijkt uit nieuw en baanbrekend onderzoek. Bestudering van de strafdossiers van meer dan 250 politieagenten die zich met de jodenjacht hebben beziggehouden, leidde tot schokkende inzichten: er waren binnen de Nederlandse politie groepen actief die alle trekken hadden van een criminele organisatie. Ze mishandelden, stalen, roofden en verkrachtten, en bovenal: ze joegen vele duizenden joden de kampen en de dood in. Jodenjacht kwam tot stand in samenwerking met het Nationaal Archief. Onder eindredactie van archivaris Jan H. Kompagnie en journalist/programmamaker Ad van Liempt legden de onderzoekers een onthutsend beeld vast: sommige politieagenten bleken zulke fanatieke jodenjagers dat het zelfs de Duitse bezetter te gortig werd.
