Information Processing and Management

It is my pleasure to write the preface for Information Processing and Management. This book aims to bring together innovative results and new research trends in inf- mation processing, computer science and management engineering. If an information processing system is able to perform useful actions for an obj- tive in a given domain, it is because the system knows something about that domain. The more knowledge it has, the more useful it can be to its users. Without that kno- edge, the system itself is useless. In the information systems field, there is conceptual modeling for the activity that elicits and describes the general knowledge a particular information system needs to know. The main objective of conceptual modeling is to obtain that description, which is called a conceptual schema. Conceptual schemas are written in languages called conceptual modeling languages. Conceptual modeling is an important part of requi- ments engineering, the first and most important phase in the development of an inf- mation system.

The COVID-19 pandemic dominated our lives since its outbreak in the year 2020. The whole economy was disrupted, and businesses and society had to adapt to the new normal. Since the last two years, the release of different vaccines and the vaccination drive have helped to contain the pandemic to quite an extent. It is believed that irrespective of the different doses of vaccination and its impact on the citizens, the virus is here to stay and will translate into an endemic. An endemic situation is where the COVID-19 virus will be confined to certain people and regions. The COVID-19 pandemic drastically impacted businesses, which had to move from a physical mode to an online mode and hybrid mo...

SIMSARC 2018

4C’s; Communication, Commerce, Connectivity and Culture are the building blocks of an economy. How well an economy will grow or perform will depend on how strong these four pillars are. Commerce, provides goods and services for the society and its people. Connectivity provides the right infrastructure and system for those goods and services to reach the market. Lastly, culture helps to retain the indigenous value in those. SIMSARC 2018, organised by Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, focussed on the aforementioned idea and invited eminen...

KEPEMIMPINAN & BUDAYA ORGANISASI

Dengan kata lain, budaya organisasi dipahami sebagai way of life (Dawson dalam Trapanier, 2017).

The Use of Psychological Testing for Treatment Planning and Outcomes Assessment

Test-based psychological assessment has been significantly affected by the health care revolution in the United States during the past two decades. Despite new limitations on psychological services across the board and psychological testing in particular, it continues to offer a rapid and efficient method of identifying problems, planning and monitoring a course of treatment, and assessing the outcomes of interventions. This thoroughly revised and greatly expanded third edition of a classic reference, now three volumes, constitutes an invaluable resource for practitioners who in a managed care era need to focus their testing not on the general goals of personality assessment, symptom identif...
