Foundations of Software Science and Computation Structures
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Conference on Foundations of Software Science and Computation Structures, FOSSACS '99, held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in March 1999 as part of ETAPS'99. The 18 revised full papers presented were carefully selected from a total of 40 submissions. Also included are three invited papers. The central issues of the papers are theories and methods which suport the specification, transformation, verification and analysis of programs and software systems.

Description Logics are a family of knowledge representation languages that have been studied extensively in Artificial Intelligence over the last two decades. They are embodied in several knowledge-based systems and are used to develop various real-life applications. The Description Logic Handbook provides a thorough account of the subject, covering all aspects of research in this field, namely: theory, implementation, and applications. Its appeal will be broad, ranging from more theoretically-oriented readers, to those with more practically-oriented interests who need a sound and modern understanding of knowledge representation systems based on Description Logics. ETAPS’99 is the second instance of the EuropeanJoint Conferences on T- ory and Practice of Software. ETAPS is an annual federated conference that was established in 1998 by combining a number of existing and new conferences. This year it comprises ?ve conferences (FOSSACS, FASE, ESOP, CC, TACAS), four satellite workshops (CMCS, AS, WAGA, CoFI), seven invited lectures, two invited tutorials, and six contributed tutorials. The events that comprise ETAPS address various aspects of the system - velopment process, including speci?cation, design, implementation, analysis and improvement. The languages, methodologies and tools which support these - tivities are all well within its scope. Di?erent blends of theory and practice are represented, with an inclination towards theory with a practical motivation on one hand and soundly-based practice on the other. Many of the issues involved in software design apply to systems in general, including hardware systems, and the emphasis on software is not intended to be exclusive.

Comparative Genomics
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the RECOMB 2004 Satellite Workshop on Comparative Genomics, RCG 2004, held in Bertinoro, Italy in October 2004. Algorithms in Bioinformatics
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th International Workshop on Algorithms in Bioinformatics, WABI 2012, held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in September 2012. WABI 2012 is one of six workshops which, along with the European Symposium on Algorithms (ESA), constitute the ALGO annual meeting and focuses on algorithmic advances in bioinformatics, computational biology, and systems biology with a particular emphasis on discrete algorithms and machine-learning methods that address important problems in molecular biology. The 35 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 92 submissions.
