This book features the latest theoretical results and techniques in the field of guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) of vehicles and aircraft. It covers a range of topics, including, but not limited to, intelligent computing communication and control; new methods of navigation, estimation, and tracking; control of multiple moving objects; manned and autonomous unmanned systems; guidance, navigation, and control of miniature aircraft; and sensor systems for guidance, navigation, and control. Presenting recent advances in the form of illustrations, tables, and text, it also provides detailed information of a number of the studies, to offer readers insights for their own research. In addition, the book addresses fundamental concepts and studies in the development of GNC, making it a valuable resource for both beginners and researchers wanting to further their understanding of guidance, navigation, and control.
The two-volume set LNCS 13833 and LNCS 13834 constitutes the proceedings of the 29th International Conference on MultiMedia Modeling, MMM 2023, which took place in Bergen, Norway, during January 9-12, 2023. The 86 papers presented in these proceedings were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 267 submissions. They focus on topics related to multimedia content analysis; multimedia signal processing and communications; and multimedia applications and services.
This textbook is compiled on the basis of teaching, scientific research, design projects, and software development of the compilation team, which strives to embody the new ideas, new methods, and new technologies of road survey and design. For the concept of compilation, it emphasizes the introduction and understanding of road geometric design principles and methods with the help of Road CAD software and online resources, in order to strengthen the practical characteristics of the textbook. The textbook mainly includes the objectives and control elements of road survey and design, horizontal, vertical, and cross-section geometric designs, route selection and alignment location, at-grade intersection and grade separation designs, and road management facilities. It is used as the textbook for road and bridge engineering, traffic engineering, and civil engineering and is also used as reference for engineers and researchers engaged in highway, urban road, and the related road engineering designs. The textbook provides teaching slides, answers for homework, videos, and other teaching resources, which are provided to users for free.
From Afghanistan to Angola, Indonesia to Iran, and Colombia to Congo, violent reactions erupt, states collapse, and militaries relentlessly pursue operations doomed to fail. And yet, no useful theory exists to explain this common tragedy. All over the world, people and states clash violently outside their established political systems, as unfulfilled demands of control and productivity bend the modern state to a breaking point. This book lays out how dysfunctional governments disrupt social orders, make territory insecure, and interfere with political-economic institutions. These give rise to a form of organized violence against the state known as irregular war. Research reveals why this frequent phenomenon is so poorly understood among conventional forces in those conflicts and the states who send their children to die in them.
