All our lives, history has told us what happened, when it happened, and why it happened, but how sure can we be that we've been told the truth? The stories inside these covers offer alternative possibilities to recognised and established facts - after all, there's always two sides to every story. And so, between these covers, you'll discover things you never knew about certain famous/infamous characters from history. For example; Who really was responsible for the Great Fire of London in 1666, and whose fault was it anyway? Did Lady Jane Grey really want to be Queen of England for only a few days, following the death of her young cousin Edward V1 - or was she coerced into it by ambitious rel...

Between these covers, you'll meet the ladies of the Wednesday League, who may be frail and old, but they're also feisty, ready to tackle anyone, and not averse to committing the odd crime or two. You'll be charmed by their sweet characters, but aghast at what they're capable of. Then there's poor and illiterate Katie, who has achieved very little in her young life. Those around her can be quite mad, but that doesn't apply to our Katie. She makes friends easily, and that benefits her in the long run. Come meet her - you'll like her. Then, there's Jenny Allbrighb, the nurse. Do you happen to know any nurses? Well, you will soon! Allow me introduce you to Sister Allbright who goes through life ...

Strange and Surreal Stories

This book is intended to amuse and interest you. You’ll meet many characters from history and see how they might have behaved in situations you’re sure to know about. There are also murderers and victims – some real and some fictitious; there’s ‘Who Dunnits’ and barbaric actions by ordinary people; there are unreal situations faced by very real characters. There are 20 different stories for you to choose and all as fascinating as each other. Was Benedict Arnold a traitor or a hero? Did William Shakespeare really desert his wife for a better life in London? How did Abraham Lincoln earn the name ‘Honest Abe? Was Rabbie Burns as enamoured of the lassies as he was said to be? (I think you’ll find he was.) The above are just a few examples to grip your interest – but there’s much, much more to keep you glued until the end of each story. As for the answers to the above questions, perhaps you’ll have a better idea after you’ve read this book.

Mystery, History and Imagination

This book is intended to amuse and interest you. You'll meet many people from history and see how they might have behaved in situations you're sure to know about. There are also murderers and victims - some real and some fictitious, barbaric punishment handed out by figures of authority, and kings and queens from the past who didn't always behave as they should have. There are 20 different stories for you to choose from and each is as fascinating as the other. Was Bloody Mary really as blood-thirsty as remembered in history? Did Lizzie Borden really murder her parents by giving them forty whacks with a hatchet? Was Rabbie Burns as enamoured of the lassies as reputed to be? (I think you'll find he was.) These are just a few examples to keep hold of your interest, but there's much, much more between these book covers to keep you glued until the end of each story. As for the answers to the above questions, perhaps you'll know those after you've read this book.
