Rhineland Emigrants
This is a collection of articles pertaining to the European origins of Pennsylvania German immigrants which originally appeared in the magazine "Pennsylvania Folklife," successor to "The Pennsylvania Dutchman." Virtually all the emigrants mentioned in this work are cited with reference to church, parish, and provincial records and other records located in the archival repositories of the old Palatinate and adjoining provinces in southwest Germany; and these emigrants are cited again, where possible, with reference to a corresponding range of Pennsylvania source materials, notably church records, wills, and tax lists. In addition, names of emigrants are collated with Strassburger and Hinke's celebrated "Pennsylvania German Pioneers," from which are drawn dates of arrival, names of ships, and other evidence of immigration.
Festschrift 75 Jahre RCDS in Bayern
Die Festschrift dokumentiert 75 Jahre studentischen Engagements im RCDS in Bayern. Dazu sind Beiträge namhafter ehemaliger bayerischer RCDS'ler gesammelt worden, die von den hochschulpolitischen Umständen und ihrem persönlichen Weg im Jahrzehnt ihres RCDS-Engagements berichten. Hinzu kommen drei Fachbeiträge zur Vor- und Frühgeschichte des Verbandes im Bayern der Weimarer Republik und der Nachkriegszeit. Zudem werden die zwölf derzeit bestehenden Hochschulgruppen und ihre Aktivitäten vorgestellt. Illustriert wird der Band von historischen und aktuellen Bildern des Verbandslebens.
Mythos Schwedt
Schwedt war ab 1968 der Standort des DDR-Militärstrafvollzugs und für nahezu jeden männlichen wehrpflichtigen DDR-Bürger ein negativ besetzter Begriff. Die dort praktizierte Kombination von Freiheitsentzug mit Schichtarbeit, militärischer Ausbildung und politischer Schulung bedeutete gegenüber anderen Gefängnissen eine verschärfte Situation, auch wenn die in Schwedt maximal zu verbüßende Strafhöhe »nur« zwei Jahre betrug.
