Historians have labeled John Buchanan Floyd a traitor and a coward for his actions during the Civil War, and this view has persisted largely unchallenged. This study reopens the case of this reform-minded Virginia governor and one-time Secretary of War to examine all aspects of Floyd's career. Pinnegar contends that partisan congressional investigations and wild newspaper claims branded Floyd as a traitor to the Union, and that the historical profession's tendency to focus solely on his connections to the Civil War era have ensured that Floyd's reputation was never leavened by the successes of his first fifty years. Peace, God

Journey with me on a psychological trip to the center of my reasoning. From childhood to young adulthood this is the reaction to all of my actions. From the year I was born until I was 27 years old, I was deeply involved both directly and indirectly with religion. I was first a Fundamentalist, Literalist, Creationist Christian when I received salvation at the age of 12. As years would progress, I would become more and more of a liberal Christian. Eventually, through research and life experiences, I would become an Agnostic Atheist and this is an explanation of why I chose Peace, over God.
