The Moon and Beyond

This is a near-future science fiction novel. The year is 2025. The scientists and engineers at the Deep Space Research Institute are very intelligent people -- so intelligent, in fact, that they have figured out how gravity works. More importantly, they've figured out how to make gravity work as a method of propulsion. Of course, they are going to tell everyone about it... eventually. But first, they have a few things to do, like build themselves some gravity-powered space ships and establish a permanent settlement on the Moon. That's assuming the government doesn't find out what they're doing and put a stop to it.... 2014 Darrell Award Finalist - Best SF Novel by a MidSouth Author

Someday the Stars

Someday?is now! It's been ten years since the Lunar Free State established itself as an independent nation on Earth's Moon. Since then, other Earth nations have pushed into space, competing with the LFS for the untapped resources of the Solar System, but-thanks to the advantages provided by its gravity-driven spacecraft-the LFS has continued to grow and prosper, and relations with the Earth nations remain?strained, at best. When the research ship LFS Stephen Hawking encounters an alien probe near Saturn, though, the craft leads Hawking on a merry chase before vanishing into?well, for want of a better term, hyperspace. Now the Lunar Free State must face two undeniable facts: the humans of Earth are not the only intelligent life in the universe and travel to other star systems is possible. The LFS has to figure out how to get to hyperspace, too, and the time they have to do so is limited. Someone else out there now knows humanity exists, and the countdown clock is ticking until whoever sent the alien craft decides to come calling.

Ian Stevens, Director of the Deep Space Research Institute, has a hidden agenda. While the rest of the world (including the U.S. Government) thinks the DSRI is primarily engaged in pure research--astronomy, astrophysics, and computer science--Ian has a few other projects going on, mostly related to manned space travel. This comes at a time when NASA is all but defunct, few scientific probes are being launched, and almost everything that goes up into Earth orbit involves government-owned hardware designed for Earth surveillance. No one even talks about human spaceflight any more, and any such projects would be frowned upon by the government, especially when conducted without government superv...

Dangerous game... The alien Akara have a secret. They've discovered the location of a planet that is home to a primitive human civilization, another ancient "seeding" of the legendary Progenitors. But this planet lies in the territory of the Otuka, spacefaring alien predators who consider human flesh to be a delicacy and the planet to be their private hunting preserve. Unwilling to confront the Otuka, the Akara have passed the problem to their human allies, the Lunar Free State. Now, the LFS needs to decide what to do about it. Are the "Moonies" willing to take responsibility for an entire planet's population? One thing seems certain: a favorite food of the Otuka is about to get much more expensive, as the LFS Marines teach Otuka hunters a hard lesson in the perils of hunting the most dangerous game in this part of the galaxy.

Season of the Wolf

Outnumbered and Outgunned? Just Like Old Times!Lorna Greenwood is back, and she's been given a new command. Well, maybe "new" isn't the right word. LFS Werewolf is one of the oldest ships in the Lunar Fleet. She's been rebuilt many times during her 70 years in service, even though she's not as fast or as heavily armed as Fleet's more modern light cruisers. Nonetheless, Lorna is proud of her and is determined to whip her green crew into shape for the mission ahead.Besides, the Bug War is over, and nobody expects Werewolf will be going into battle anytime soon. Fate, however, has an annoying habit of ignoring expectations?
