It’s a one-of-a-kind town with singular stories, well-publicized challenges, and also a rich sporting history. Baltimore Sports: Stories from Charm City chronicles the many ways that sports are an integral part of Baltimore’s history and identity and part of what makes the city unique, interesting, and, for some people, loveable. Wide ranging and eclectic, the essays included here cover not only the Orioles and the Ravens, but also lesser-known Baltimore athletes and teams. Toots Barger, known as the “Queen of the Duckpins,” makes an appearance. So do the Dunbar Poets, considered by some to be the greatest high-school basketball team ever. Bringing together the work of both historians and journalists, including Michael Olesker, former Baltimore Sun columnist, and Rafael Alvarez, who was named Baltimore’s Best Writer by Baltimore Magazine in 2014, Baltimore Sports illuminates Charm City through this fascinating exploration of its teams, fans, and athletes.

Originally published in 1980, this book presents a comparative analysis of British and Norwegian oil policies, focusing on the interdependence and bargaining relationship between governments and oil companies, as well as the policy choices, concerns and constraints for the two governments. The perspective is largely that of a government planner, whose main concerns are the long-term and complex interests of the state, orderly development as well as social and political stability.
"Morgan has impersonated the 43rd president onstage before thousands and on television before millions. Discovered at a Bush for president rally in 2004, he suddenly went from selling appliances to becoming one of the top impersonators in the industry. Still, all of this pales in comparison to his love of imitating Jesus Christ. These laugh-out-loud anecdotes illustrate how much fun portraying "Dubya" can be, but they also reveal that underneath John Morgan's presidential exterior lies a man who strives to imitate Jesus Christ."--Inside flap.

This inquiry arose from the Committee's belief that any benefits of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games should be felt in Wales and not only in London and the South East of England. The Committee cannot yet conclude whether Wales will benefit from the 2012 Games. Few events will be held in Wales and it is not predicted that Wales will benefit greatly from tourism generated by the Games. An opportunity was missed in the original bid to locate events in Wales particularly in respect of mountain biking and canoeing. In retrospect, it now seems misguided to build expensive new venues when such facilities exist in Wales. Lottery funding will be diverted from Wales to fund the Games, with a loss...

New characters are introduced, bringing adventure, romance, peril, humor, heartaches, and victories. Follow their story as they intermingle to begin a journey that will reward them for their efforts to find their own personal road home.
As the evening sun settled behind the Rocky Mountains, a cool breeze licked at the faces of the two young boys who sat on the front porch steps, whittling. Raven Morgan, the elder, a nine-year-old, looked at his brothers notched and crooked piece of wood. You are doing a fine job, Hawk. What is it going to be? Seemingly offended, but only for a moment, Hawk gave a sideways glance and answered, Smart as you are, Raven, and you cant tell? Amused at his seven-year-old brother, who sometimes seemed older than his age, Raven smiled. Well, I have an idea what it is, but if you tell me, then Ill know if Im right.
