Locomotive Portraits
Railway art has existed as long as there have been Railways. Many famous names have included some aspect of railways in their paintings, notably Claude Monet and J M W Turner. This tradition has been kept alive by the formation in the UK of the Guild of Railway Artists, which now consists of over 200 artists, of which Jonathan Clay is one. Over the last few years, Jonathan has had many requests to produce his own book of pictures, and, having relented at last, this is the result.In order to save time for his first ever railway event in 1999, he painted a series of locomotive pictures without backgrounds, intending to add the scenery later. However, they sold so well, that they became the norm, and the series of 'Locomotive Portraits' was born.

A Warrior's Heart
He loved her from the first moment he saw her, and he knew that it would be his destiny to take care of her always. She was intrigued by him at first sight and wondered what place he would have in her life. Neither of them could know, however, what their lives would hold as the Arapaho warrior and the beautiful fair-skinned pioneer discovered each other amid the cruel realities of the westward expansion. Their nations were at war, their people were mortal enemies, and yet, they fell in love. He became her strength. She became his hope. Together they found a life of love despite their enemies, a place of peace despite the world around them, a united faith in God despite the differences of their heritage, and a hope for the future despite the ignorances of their day. He found in her the love of a woman. She found in him the love of a Warrior's Heart.
