Close Brush with Death
Lawton Treadwell "LT " Close is a lawyer and a well-known consultant to the rich and pampered in New York City. Their names and faces constantly appear in the headlines, but LT sees them regularly in his office. He knows how the crime game is played-and sometimes the game is deadly. It's 1995, the economy is overheated, and someone is masterminding the thefts of famous paintings. The last person who attempted to uncover the thief's identity is dead. Now it's LT's turn to start asking the questions. He faces this challenge with only Max Kelly, his trusted man-of-action; Dickie Douglas, his new age personal trainer; and Teddy Martin-Smyth, his industrial designer girlfriend, whose designs include marriage by any means. This small band of misfits must somehow survive and prevail in the land of celebrities, artists, socialites, entertainers, and powerful, sinister forces at play just beneath the gold leaf veneer of the Hamptons. A killer with a penchant for expensive art is loose in this playground for the rich and famous, and LT has to figure out how to keep himself-and everyone else-alive.
Hanna's Town
Hanna's Tow is the history of nineteenth-century Wabash, Indiana, where the author was raised and where his father was a minister for 30 years. In late autumn 1902 a macabre scene unfolded at the original burial ground of Wabash, which was called both Old Cemetery and Hanna's Cemetery. The task at hand was the disinterment of four bodies. The newest of the four graves held whatever might be left of the corpse of Colonel Hugh Hanna - the founding father and civic icon of the prosperous and picturesque community. It might be argued that Hanna's disinterment was the high-water mark of an outpouring of visible progress, cultural energy, and palpable optimism that the town had experienced during the proceeding 67 years. Hanna's Town talks about the high and low points of this fasinating community.

The Impact of Political Uncertainty on Asset Prices: The Case of the United Kingdom's EU Membership Referendum
How did expectations of the outcome of the United Kingdom's (UK) referendum on European Union (EU) membership in 2016 affect prices in financial markets? We study this using high frequency data from betting and financial markets. We find that a one percentage point increase in the probability of "Leave" result caused British stocks (FTSE All-Share) to decline by 0.004 percent, and the Pound to depreciate by 0.006 percent against the euro. We find negative and significant effects for most sub-sectors, and negative spill-overs to other EU member countries. We show that the differential impact across sectors and countries can be explained by differences in the trade exposures.
