Memoirs of a Jew born in 1908 in Ostrowiec, Poland; pp. 9-50 relate his experiences in the Holocaust. Rosenberg, his wife, and three children were interned in the Ostrowiec ghetto in June 1941. His older daughter, Brandala, was killed during the liquidation of the ghetto in December 1942; his baby daughter, Henia, was hidden with Poles; the rest of the family was sent to work in the nearby Bodzechów labor camp. Rosenberg was deported, but jumped from the train and returned to the camp. He then escaped to Warsaw and, living as a non-Jew on the "Aryan side", brought his wife and son there as well. His wife later returned to the camp, and his son was hidden with a Polish woman. Rosenberg lived in various villages until the end of the war, when the family was reunited; Henia was allowed to return to her family only after Rosenberg took her rescuer to court. In 1947 the family immigrated to Canada. Rosenberg's parents and three sisters perished in the Holocaust; his two brothers survived.
