A series of radio scripts that provide an 'alternative' re-telling of the Jesus story with a contemporary storyline that avoids everything familiar. The story of Josh Davidson and his unlikely companions, threatened by a hostile state and corrupt church, has all the essentials but might be unrecognisable as a version of the Gospel narratives. But it's still a ripping yarn in its own right. Copious notes explain the historical and theological background to the plays and how they were written.

After centuries of intercontinental war, chaos, and reconstruction, Earth wants to reassert itself on the planet it built and colonized at great cost nearly a millenium before...Novus. Abandoned during Earth's woes, Novus has learned to exist on its own and now rejects the mother planet's ancient claims. It now must decide how far it will go to maintain its independence; fully aware that it has developed a society where war no longer exists. Huperum has taken its place. Yet, it too extracts the ultimate price few are willing to pay. One who does is Keef Terrason, determined to restore the lost honor and prominence of his people, Pearthia, the new world's first colonists. Standing in his way is Pendar Loriat, an Akasian, bred and trained to rule, descendant of Novus' first Huper, Pendar the Great. Into this setting arrives Earth's new Consul General, Sean Lewis, sent to Novus to convince the current Huper to meet Earth's demands. Earth does not want conflict, but is determined to take what is not willingly given. It believes it has paid to high a price not to.

Prisons of Creativity

Sparking a discussion of the importance of creativity for the well-being of society, this book highlights and argues for the potential of those in prison to learn and exercise the skills of writing, visual arts, and music; to protect their intellectual property; and to distribute their works to the public, and the consequent benefits of their creative contribution to wider society. Focused on the premise that a nation’s well-being and competitive advantage in innovation are advanced by promoting the creative efforts of all its citizens without exclusion, including those residing in prisons, this book uses the United States as a case study to illuminate the potential among any nation’s pr...

The editors organize this wide array of texts chronologically by theater and incorporate French, Italian, and Spanish transcriptions with English translations throughout.

In 1936, as television networks CBS, DuMont, and NBC experimented with new ways to provide entertainment, NBC deviated from the traditional method of single experimental programs to broadcast the first multi-part program, Love Nest, over a three-episode arc. This would come to be known as a miniseries. Although the term was not coined until 1954, several other such miniseries were broadcast, including Jack and the Beanstalk and Women in Wartime. In the mid-1960s the concept was developed into a genre that still exists. While the major broadcast networks pioneered the idea, it quickly became popular with cable and streaming services. This encyclopedic source contains a detailed history of 878 TV miniseries broadcast from 1936 to 2020, complete with casts, networks, credits, episode count and detailed plot information.
