Governance and Society in Colonial Mexico
This book is a richly detailed examination of social interaction in the city of Chihuahua, a major silver mining center of colonial Mexico. Founded at the beginning of the eighteenth century, the city attracted people from all over New Spain, all summoned "by the voices of the mines of Chihuahua." These included aspiring miners and merchants, mestizo and mulato workers and drifters, Tarahumara Indians indigenous to the area, Yaquis from Sonora, and Apaches from New Mexico. Several hundred Spaniards, principally from Northern Spain, also arrived, hoping to make their fortunes in the New World.

Joaquín Sorolla Family
Joaquín Sorolla (born in Valencia 1863 - died in Cercedilla 1923) is one of the most successful Spanish painters ever. He was a genius in capturing the essence of the scene he was painting. He was a master of light. Joaquín Sorolla loved his wife and his family. He painted them all the time. He lived in the time when photography was being invented and commercialized. Sorolla created a virtual family album with his wonderful paintings. He invited us to see and share his happiness. Sorolla was not shy about his family as many of his contemporaries were. He sold many paintings that showed his family, especially his daughter María was a favorite with the public, and Sorolla jokingly called María the breadwinner of the family. He wanted us to share his view of the ideal family as he shared his view of a great and united Spain. Sorolla painted dogs and a cat as pets, as part of the family, superbly catching their soul and character.

Prevención de las adicciones en el contexto escolar
El problema de las drogodependencias y las adicciones sigue presente en la sociedad española, a pesar de que se están poniendo medios preventivos para intentar amortiguarlo. En las últimas tres décadas venimos asistiendo a una serie de cambios de gran envergadura en este fenómeno. Frente a los anteriores estilos de consumo asociados a conductas de marginalidad, han surgido nuevos patrones de consumo y nuevos perfiles de consumidores. Hoy en día, nos encontramos con pautas de comportamiento totalmente integradas en colectivos de personas cada vez más jóvenes y de todos los sectores sociales. Este libro aborda los contenidos teóricos que se han considerado más relevantes para conceptualizar la prevención escolar de las adicciones, apoyado en la segunda parte por un trabajo de investigación aplicada a este contexto.
