Solo la unión de dos personajes de carácter tan acusado, una joven rebelde y un muchacho valiente que clama venganza, podían consumar con éxito esta hazaña. Una novela rodeada de sedas, aromas, perfumes, música, las insinuantes danzas de las esclavas del harén y el erotismo de los baños y juegos femeninos, en los que conoceremos los escenarios de la huida, perseguidos por la guardia del sultán.
La escalera del agua
Por el autor de Azafrán, una novela histórica que aporta una teoría sobre los expulsados de al-Ándalus y recrea la belleza de dos de sus reinos. Ángel es un muchacho que malvive en una mísera alquería de Las Hurdes, dedicado a las labores del campo y sin más ambición que lograr comer cada día. No sabe que su familia y sus vecinos guardan un secreto. Su abuelo se encargará de desvelárselo cuando, según la tradición, llegue el momento: son descendientes de moriscos, expulsados de Granada en el siglo XVI, desterrados del reino de Toledo en el XVII y refugiados en ese remoto paraje para huir de la persecución. Ese hecho marcará la existencia de Ángel, así como un desgraciado suceso que le obligará a escapar de su aldea y a rehacer su vida en Toledo, al amparo de unos padres franciscanos que le darán cariño y educación y harán de él un hombre admirable.
Azafrán
Un viaje fascinante por al-Ándalus en su momento de mayor esplendor. Un recorrido por una época gloriosa de la historia. Corre el año de 1252 y Mukhtar ben Saleh, un maestro musulmán hastiado de los rigores del poder cristiano, decide abandonar su pueblecito andaluz en busca de un lugar en el que pueda vivir entre sus iguales. Armado apenas con un Corán, algo de ropa y la pluma que en día le regalara el imán, Mukhtar deambulará por el viejo y todavía esplendoroso al-Ándalus y recorrerá las callejuelas de Sevilla, Córdoba y Granada. Sin embargo, no tardará en darse cuenta de que su viaje no es solamente físico: gracias a las enseñanzas de distintos maestros a los que irá encontrando en el camino, Mukhtar descubrirá un sendero de conocimientos en el que confluyen las tres religiones que en aquel momento convivían: el islam, el cristianismo y el judaísmo. Azafrán se adentra en los cambios interiores del ser humano a través de un viaje emprendido por un maestro de la época andalusí.
