Beyond Nationalism?
Bringing fresh insight to an important contemporary debate, Fred Dallmayr and José M. Rosales consider the changing definition of nationalism and the nation-state in our era of globalization. The question mark in the title of this volume points to the multiple issues at stake: what is the meaning of nationalism? Is there only one or possibly multiple types of nationalism? What does it mean to be "beyond" nationalism? Can one safely abandon nationalism and the nation-state? La difusió dels coneixements de la universitas, a vegades massa restringits a les parets de les aules de les facultats, és un objectiu prioritari i d'interès de les institucions acadèmiques i culturals. En aquest sentit, els textos que es reuneixen en aquest llibre 'Procedents del Congrés sobre Emmanuel Kant celebrat l'any 2004 a València- permeten acostar el pensament del gran filòsof que va seguir aquelles jornades, desmentint la idea que restringeix l'interès per la filosofia a una minoria tan limitada com escassa. D'esta manera, des de la Universitat de València i el Museu Valencià de la Il·lustració i de la Modernitat (MuVIM), responsables d'aquell Congrés, s'aposta per la difusió de les idees kantianes i s'invita a la reflexió i al debat sobre un pensador il·lustrat que continua sent suggestiu per a abordar no sols les qüestions estrictament filosòfiques, sinó també per a la fonamentació de problemes polítics tan actuals com la legitimació de la guerra, el cosmopolitisme o la construcció d'estructures de govern internacionals.
