This book presents a collection of research papers on applying omics sciences in crop characterization and breeding, focusing on Proteomics, Phenomics, and Microbiomics. Within the pages of this book, you will discover valuable contributions related to various aspects of plant biology. These include molecular modeling of proteins in plants, monitoring crops to extract relevant information about their growth, characterization of soils to identify heavy metal contamination, and exploring soil remediation methods that utilize microorganisms to promote plant growth. The genesis of this book is rooted in the Ómicas Research Alliance, a prominent player in the field of Food Science within the Col...
Tracing the variety of printed commodities that were circulating in the urban sphere, Agnes Gehbald provides a comprehensive study of print culture in Peru in the decades before Independence. An important volume for those interested in the history of books beyond the European market.
Writing about Troilo over a century after his birth and nearly fifty years after his death implies a certainty: the artist, who performed with him, in all but a few cases, no longer exist. That vast absence compels us to seek Troilo where he never left: the music. “Troilo: Biography of Argentina” is a music book, but also a precise and rigorous painting of a mobilized, vigorous and encompassing country where culture –and tango– were in the spotlight. It might well be read as a text that uncovers the keys of growth and decline of Argentina
Museum Matters tells the story of Mexico's national collections through the trajectories of its objects. The essays in this book show the many ways in which things matter and affect how Mexico imagines its past, present, and future.
In 1992 Gordon founded the Workplace Project to help immigrant workers in the underground suburban economy of Long Island, New York. In a story of gritty determination and surprising hope, she weaves together Latino immigrant life and legal activism to tell the unexpected tale of how the most vulnerable workers in society came together to demand fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect from employers.
Soft computing embraces various methodologies for the development of intelligent systems that have been successfully applied to a large number of real-world problems. Soft Computing in Industry contains a collection of papers that were presented at the 6th On-line World Conference on Soft Computing in Industrial Applications that was held in September 2001. It provides a comprehensive overview of recent theoretical developments in soft computing as well as of successful industrial applications. It is divided into seven parts covering material on: keynote papers on various subjects ranging from computing with autopoietic systems to the effects of the Internet on education; intelligent control; classification, clustering and optimization; image and signal processing; agents, multimedia and Internet; theoretical advances; prediction, design and diagnosis. The book is aimed at researchers and professional engineers who develop and apply intelligent systems in computer engineering.
