Julia Augusta Schwartz (1873-1957) was an author of books for young people, many of which were designed for schoolroom use. In 1896 she was graduated from Vassar and received her M. A. in English literature in 1897. One of her first books was Vassar Studies (1899), which, according to the publisher's circular, offered "a faithful impression of the spirit and the personality of modern Vassar. " Her other works include: Wilderness Babies (1905), Beatrice Leigh at College: A Story for Girls (1907), Grass Hopper Green's Garden (1915), From Then Till Now: Stories of the Growth of Friendliness (1929) and When Every Stranger Was an Enemy: Longlegs, the Cave Boy (1929).
