John Linley was born February 2, 1796 at Blyth, Nottinghamshire, England and died February 13, 1882. He married Isabella ca. 1823 and she died leaving four sons and one daughter. He remarried Fanny Steele (they had no children) and in the fall of 1849 the family set out for America. However, He died on the ship. The remaining members of the family settled in Dover, Wisconsin. Descendants are located mainly in Wisconsin.
