Jacob Barrickman was born in 1763 in Frederick County, Maryland, a son of Peter Bargman, who had emigrated from the Palatinate in Germany. He served in the Revolutionary War on the Pennsylvania forntiers. He married Jane Swan in 1784 at Newport, Kentucky. They had eleven children. The family migrated to Franklin County, Indiana, in 1812. He died in 1842. His son, Jacob Barickman (1799-1875), married Jennet Hannah Templeton, daughter of Robert Templeton, in 1820. They had ten children, 1822-1839. Descendants listed lived in Indiana, Illinois, and elsewhere.

Peter Barrackman was born ca. 1744 in Germany. He served in the French and Indian Wars in Maryland in 1767. He married Elizabeth Antis in Virginia. She may had been his second wife. The family was living at Fort Pitt, Pennsylvania, by 1776 and he ran a ferry service on the river near Fort Pitt during the Revolutionary War. The family migrated to Knox County, Indiana, in the 1780s. He died there in 1790. Focuses on the descendants of his sons, Abraham, Henry and John.
