New Challenges in Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering includes the contributions presented at the ISRM European Rock Mechanics Symposium Eurock 2024 (Alicante, Spain, 15-19 July 2024), and explores cutting-edge advancements in rock mechanics and rock engineering. This comprehensive compilation covers various aspects of rock mechanics and rock engineering, including: rock properties, testing methods, infrastructure and mining rock mechanics, design analysis, stone heritage preservation, geophysics, numerical modeling, monitoring techniques, underground excavation support, risk assessment, and the application of EUROCODE-7 in rock engineering. Furthermore, it addresses areas like geomechanics for the oil and gas industry, applications of artificial intelligence, remote sensing methodologies and geothermal technology. New Challenges in Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering covers the latest breakthroughs and tackles the new challenges in rock mechanics and rock engineering, is aimed at scientists and professionals in these fields, and serves as an essential resource for keeping up to date with industry trends and solutions.
Rock Characterisation, Modelling and Engineering Design Methods contains the contributions presented at the 3rd ISRM SINOROCK Symposium (Shanghai, China, 1820 June 2013). The papers contribute to the further development of the overall rock engineering design process through the sequential linkage of the three themes of rock characterisation, model
The small-scale structures referred to in this publication are those structures of tectonic origin that can be observed with the naked eye in the field. Their scale varies broadly between that of the hand-specimen to that of the exposure, or even mountainside. Such structures are the visible effects of rock deformation caused by local stresses and movements which have been induced in the rocks by external tectonic forces of possibly unknown origin. Recognition of these minor structures, and appreciation of their origin and significance assist the field geologist to elucidate the larger-scale geological structures of his area. Commonly some can be used in deciphering the order of strati graph...

What is the important geologic information recorded in Thrust Belts and Foreland Basins (TBFB) on the evolution of orogens? How do they transcript the coupled influence of deep and surficial geological processes? Is it still worth looking for hydrocarbons in foothills areas? These and other questions are addressed in the volume edited by Lacombe, Lavé, Roure and Vergés, which constitutes the Proceedings of the first meeting of the new ILP task force on "Sedimentary Basins", held in December 2005 at the Institut Français du Pétrole, on behalf of the Société Géologique de France and the Sociedad Geologica de España. This volumes spans a timely bridge between recent advances in the understanding of surface processes, field investigations, high resolution imagery, analogue-numerical modelling, and hydrocarbon exploration in TBFB. With 25 thematic papers including well-documented regional case studies, it provides a milestone publication as a new in-depth examination of TBFB.
Prior to 1862, when the Department of Agriculture was established, the report on agriculture was prepared and published by the Commissioner of Patents, and forms volume or part of volume, of his annual reports, the first being that of 1840.
