Notable American Women

Modeled on the "Dictionary of American Biography, "this set stands alone but is a good complement to that set which contained only 700 women of 15,000 entries. The preparation of the first set of "Notable American Women" was supported by Radcliffe College. It includes women from 1607 to those who died before the end of 1950; only 5 women included were born after 1900. Arranged throughout the volumes alphabetically, entries are from 400 to 7,000 words and have bibliographies. There is a good introductory essay and a classified lest of entries in volume three.

Karma is a natural law--the Law of Cause and Effect--and, just like gravity, it is constantly at work in the world and in your life, whether you know it or believe in it or not. The book you are holding will give you the knowledge and tools necessary to discover and understand the playing-out of karma in your physical, mental, psychological, social, and spiritual life. Ten Difficult Women: Their Impact and Legacy

That "well behaved women rarely make history" is a fact. Those who do make history are too busy developing their unique talents, expressing their authentic selves, and fulfilling their life's purpose to worry about conforming to senseless rules, being superficially "nice," or fitting-in. Ten Difficult Women explores the question: "What made them that way?" In the process, it uncovers surprising similarities between personalities as diverse and separated by time and place as: Rosa Parks, Coco Chanel, Hillary Clinton, Queen Boudicca, Harriet Tubman, Drew Barrymore, Sarah Palin, Toby Riddle, Anne Frank, and the mother of all "difficult women," Eve. A fascinating study!

Spy Killer

American Sailor Kurt Reid is a hothead and a hard case--a man who hits first and asks questions later. Falsely accused and under the gun, Reid jumps ship and vanishes into Shanghai--only to get caught in a web of intrigue, betrayal, and murder. In a world where nothing is what it seems and everything is for sale, he's soon out of his depth, drawn into a spy game in which the winner takes all ... and the loser takes a knife to the back. Will Reid live up to his reputation as the Spy Killer? He'll have to learn the rules fast, because with players like sexy Russian agent Varinka Savischna in the hunt, the game is about to turn as seductive as it is sinister. "A roller coaster ride of intrigue, suspense, action and adventure ... very highly recommended." --Midwest Book Review

From Science to God

From Science to God offers a crash course in the nature of reality. It is the story of Peter Russell's lifelong exploration into the nature of consciousness — how he went from being a strict atheist, studying mathematics and physics at Cambridge University, to realizing a profound personal synthesis of the mystical and scientific. Using his own tale of curiosity and exploration as the book’s backbone, Russell blends physics, psychology, and philosophy to reach a new worldview in which consciousness is a fundamental quality of creation. He shows how all the ingredients for this worldview are in place; nothing new needs to be discovered. We have only to put the pieces together and explore ...

The Consciousness Revolution

  • Categories: Art

AS WE ENTER THE 21ST CENTURY faced with current global and human crises, society is being questioned as never before. In The Consciousness Revolution three pioneers at the cutting-edge of Western thought reflect on the chances of peace in the world, on how society is changing, and on the changes we can make in ourselves. They consider the roles of art, science, education, goals and values, world views, religion, spirituality and, above all, consciousness -- for the state of our consciousness is the key issue underlying almost everything else. As Ken Wilber asks in his Foreword, what does it all finally come down to? Peter Russell put it like this: 'Each little bit counts ... we are all part ...

Making My Pitch

Making My Pitch tells the story of Ila Jane Borders, who despite formidable obstacles became a Little League prodigy, MVP of her otherwise all-male middle school and high school teams, the first woman awarded a college baseball scholarship, and the first to pitch and win a complete men’s collegiate game. After Mike Veeck signed Borders in May 1997 to pitch for his St. Paul Saints of the independent Northern League, she accomplished what no woman had done since the Negro Leagues era: play men’s professional baseball. Borders played four professional seasons and in 1998 became the first woman in the modern era to win a professional ball game. Borders had to find ways to fit in with her tea...
